Millionaire Returns to ABC Prime Time

BURBANK: A number of actors, singers, athletes and other celebrities are on the roster for this month’s 10th anniversary celebration of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which returns to ABC for a two-week prime-time event, hosted by Regis Philbin.

The Millionaire event premieres August 9, airing for 11 nights, Sunday through Thursday at 8 p.m., with the finale on August 23. Each episode will conclude with a celebrity player taking the hot seat, asked to answer a single question worth $50,000 for the charity of their choice. Celebrities on the roster include Lauren Conrad of The Hills, rapper Snoop Dogg, pop singer Katy Perry, Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson and The View co-host Sherri Shepherd.

CNN’s senior political correspondent Candy Crowley joins the previously announced panel of experts for 10th anniversary’s “Ask The Expert” lifeline. Wolf Blitzer, Connie Chung, Sam Donaldson, Gwen Ifill, Ken Jennings, Bill Nye, Jodi Picoult, Cokie Roberts, Mo Rocca and George Stephanopoulos are also slated. The Ask The Expert element was added from the daytime version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Also imported from daytime, faster gameplay elements will be in place, with time limits on each question.
