Raw Cut Launches Current-Affairs Unit

LONDON: British factual producer Raw Cut TV’s new current-affairs unit is to be led by journalist David Hencke, the former Westminster correspondent for the Guardian.

Hencke will be responsible for sourcing news and stories that the current-affairs unit will develop into programming. Raw Cut is currently recruiting a team to support Hencke.

A journalist and author, Hencke has worked for the Guardian since 1976. He is also the current chair of the parliamentary press gallery. Hencke’s appointment comes as Raw Cut is expanding its "blue-light" programming.

Steve Warr, the managing director of Raw Cut TV, said: “Raw Cut’s expansion into current affairs is a natural progression from our existing repertoire of hard-edged factual programming. We are delighted to have David on board; his outstanding experience will play a vital role in driving the company forward into a new sector, giving us a more diverse offering of factual programming.”

Hencke added: “The recent expenses scandal shows that there is a thirst for current affairs news. I look forward to the challenge of translating my print knowledge of current affairs into the compelling television for which Raw Cut is known.”
