HBO Central Europe to Adapt In Treatment

BUDAPEST: HBO Central Europe and Dori Media Distribution have struck a deal for the format rights to the Israeli series Be’Tipul, which was adapted and produced by HBO in the U.S. as In Treatment.

HBO Central Europe has acquired the rights to produce the series for Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Moldova. HBO CE will produce local versions of the series for transmission on its channels throughout the region. The HBO U.S. production of In Treatment features Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne) as a successful therapist whose professional and personal life are falling apart. Each episode features an individual therapy session between Paul and one of his patients.

In Treatment, an Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning drama, is based on the critically acclaimed Israeli show Be’Tipul, created and produced by Hagai Levi. Levi will serve as executive producer for the HBO Central European productions. The format is under license from Sheleg Productions.

Linda Jensen, the chief executive of HBO Central Europe, said: “We are very pleased to have obtained In Treatment through Dori Media Group, and look forward to making this premium serial for our viewers. The HBO U.S. version provides us with a fantastic standard of acting and production, which we will endeavor to match in our markets.”

José Escalante, the president and general manager of Dori Media Distribution, added: “The interest in this format has been high across Europe. We wish HBO Central Europe great success with their original productions.”
