CBS Presents New Schedule

NEW YORK: Three new dramas, including an NCIS spinoff, and one new comedy are heading to CBS in the fall, along with Medium, which was cancelled by NBC, while Without a Trace and The Unit are among the series being axed.

Mondays remain focused on comedy, with How I Met Your Mother in a new time slot of 8 p.m., followed by the new series Accidentally on Purpose with Jenna Elfman. At 9 p.m. CBS will air Two and a Half Men, while The Big Bang Theory moves to 9:30 p.m. CSI: Miami returns to Mondays at 10 p.m.

Tuesdays, NCIS at 8 p.m. will lead into the spinoff NCIS: Los Angeles, which focuses on the world of undercover surveillance at the Office of Special Projects (OSP), a division of NCIS that is charged with apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals that pose a threat to the nation’s security. The cast includes Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J. Slotting into 10 p.m. will be The Good Wife, in place of the canned Without a Trace. The Good Wife stars Julianna Margulies as a wife and mother who must assume full responsibility for her family and re-enter the workforce after her husband’s very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail. Tony Scott and Ridley Scott are among the executive producers.

On Wednesdays, The New Adventures of Old Christine and Gary Unmarried fill the 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. hour, while Criminal Minds and CSI: NY round out the night. Thursdays, similarly, are relatively unchanged, with Survivor and CSI. At 10 p.m., the returning The Mentalist relocates from its Tuesday 9 p.m. slot to fill the position vacated by the axed Eleventh Hour.

Ghost Whisperer is back to lead off Friday prime-time, followed by Medium, which was dropped by NBC this week, filling the slot previously home to Flashpoint. Capping off Friday prime time is Numb3rs, back for another season.

Saturday nights feature two hours of crime drama repeats, followed by 48 Hours Mystery. CBS is bringing The Amazing Race back to Sundays at 8 p.m., and has picked up a new drama, Three Rivers, for 9 p.m. The series from CBS Television Studios is a medical drama focused on a transplant hospital. Cold Case moves to Sundays at 10 p.m.

CBS will bring back the comedy Rules of Engagement for midseason. Also ordered for midseason are the Canadian drama The Bridge, Jerry Bruckheimer’s medical drama Miami Trauma and the alternative series Arrange Marriage, from Magical Elves, and Stephen Lambert’s Undercover Boss.
