Coolabi Strikes Dead Normal Deals

LONDON: British kids’ content producer Coolabi Productions has struck a co-production deal with Australia’s Burberry Productions for the new live-action comedic drama Dead Normal, which has also shored up slots on CBBC, ABC Australia and Nickelodeon Germany, with CAKE Entertainment handling international distribution.

The series, supported by Screen Australia and Film Victoria, is a creation of the award-winning writer Barbara Slade and follows the adventures of three beautiful, outrageous, strong-willed and sassy teenage sisters, who just happen to be ghosts. "It is fun and funny—a ghostly take on school life and with three strong female leads it will make a strong impact in the CBBC portfolio," said Anne Gilchrist, the controller of CBBC.

Julian Scott, the head of children’s programming at Coolabi, added: "We have brought together a strong calibre of companies to work on this exciting new product. This is a significant deal for Coolabi and very much in line with our business plan—very strong IP in partnership with A-list production partners and top global broadcasters."
