MTV Japan Launches Streaming Video Service

TOKYO: MTV Networks Japan has added video streaming functionality to its website, delivering free access to a host of music video clips, as well as shows from the MTV Networks International content library.

The new service enables users of MTVJapan.com to view music clips from Universal recording artists such as Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Metallica, and Ne-Yo and Warner Music acts such as Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Daniel Powter, My Chemical Romance and Flo Rida. The streaming service also delivers MTVNI content such as The Hills from the U.S. and the MTV Japan animation Usavich.

To mark the launch, MTVNJ will exclusively premiere Green Day’s new video Know Your Enemy on April 24 in Japan. This exclusive premiere is part of the first global cross-channel video premiere for MTV and VH1 networks.

“This new functionality is an integral part of our evolution towards seamless and rich cross-platform experience of the MTV brand in Japan,” said Paul Greenberg, the VP and general manager for digital media, North Asia, at MTVNJ.
