New Commercial Director for History U.K.

NEW YORK/LONDON: The History Channel in the U.K. has named Christina Foley as commercial director, reporting to Tom Davidson, the managing director.

Based in London, Foley takes up her new post with immediate effect. She replaces Ian McDonough, who left the company in December 2008 to join BBC Worldwide. Foley is charged with oversight for the company’s on-going brand expansion throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East, in addition to assuming all key business functions that fall under this role.

Previously, Foley was commercial director for Sparrowhawk International Channels, formerly Crown Media International. She also held various posts at BBC Worldwide.

“Christina’s experience and understanding of the industry and market make her an ideal choice to undertake this key role within our organization, said Davidson. As we continue to expand our brand, announcing the rollout of further channels, as well as new format and platform developments, we are confident that she will be a valuable addition to our team.”

Foley commented: “I am delighted to be joining The History Channel as the brand has always been synonymous with unparalleled quality and high-end factual entertainment. I am therefore obviously looking forward to joining the team and being able to contribute towards extending the reach of the full channel portfolio throughout the markets and enhancing the brand.”
