BBC Three Scores Harper’s Island

LONDON: CBS Paramount International Television has licensed the new 13-part murder mystery series Harper’s Island to BBC Three for launch in the U.K. later this year.

The show, slated to premiere on CBS next month, focuses on a group of family and friends attending a week-long wedding celebration on an isolated island. A murderer claims victims one by one over the course of the series, and the killer will be revealed by the end of the 13 episodes.

Sue Deeks, the head of series, at BBC Programme Acquisition, said, "This is truly exciting event television—a suspenseful, contemporary take on the classic murder mystery with more than a dash of horror—think Agatha Christie meets Scream and you will get the idea!"

Danny Cohen, the controller of BBC Three, added: "Alongside BBC Three’s focus on original drama like Being Human and PA’s, the channel has a history of acquiring a small number of high-quality programs from abroad which are suited to young audiences. Recent examples have included the wonderful performance of Chris Lilley in Summer Heights High and the sharp writing talent of the team behind Family Guy and I believe Harper’s Island will sit confidently alongside these."
