History Makers Announces Award Nominees

TORONTO: The History Makers Board will present three awards at this year’s summit—Best Program, Most Innovative Program and the Lifetime Achievement Award—in an evening ceremony on January 29.

The Best Program Award recognizes the series or television special that has made the most public impact and advances the history genre while displaying the highest production values. This year’s nominees are Man on Wire, directed by James Marsh; Waltz with Bashir, directed by Ari Folman; and Oswald’s Ghost, directed by Robert Stone.

Competing for the Most Innovative Program Award are 102 Minutes that Changed America, directed by Nicole Rittenmeyer; Life After People, directed by David Devries; Aftermath: Population Zero, directed by Christopher Rowley; and Heist, directed by Justin Hardy. The category honors programs that combine creativity and originality in content and use of various platforms.

As previously announced, the BBC’s Laurence Rees will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, paying homage to an individual who has consistently achieved excellence in history and current-affairs programming.
