SAG Hands Out Statuettes

LOS ANGELES: At last night’s 15th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, Slumdog Millionaire was given the statuette for best cast performance, while TV’s big winner was 30 Rock, which swept the comedy categories.

The cast of 30 Rock was recognized for their performance as a comedic ensemble, and Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin received individual honors as well. For dramatic series, Sally Field won for Brothers & Sisters and Hugh Laurie for House, while Mad Men was given the award for best dramatic ensemble. John Adams took the win for both best actor and best actress in a TV movie or mini-series for Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney, respectively. 

In the motion-picture category, Slumdog Millionaire pulled in the big win for cast performance, and Milk‘s Sean Penn and Doubt‘s Meryl Streep each received awards for their lead performances. Supporting nods went to Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight and Kate Winslet for The Reader
