New Head of Drama, Acquisitions for CBBC

LONDON, December 19:
Steven Andrew will take up the role of head of drama and acquisitions for CBBC
in early January, replacing Jon East, who is executive-producing and directing
the new CBBC drama Bo and the Spirit World.

In his new role, Andrew
will oversee the development and production of all in-house CBBC drama and will
also be responsible for all CBBC acquisitions. Andrew is currently a freelance
executive and was previously at ITV, where he was program director of ITV
Digital Channels. Before joining ITV, Steven spent 24 years at the BBC, where
his production credits included CBBC programming such as Blue Peter, Going Live, Jackanory and Grange
Hill
.

Richard Deverell, the
controller of BBC Children's, said: "This is a fantastic appointment for
BBC Children's. To attract someone with Steven's track record to head CBBC
drama and acquisitions is a testament to the department's reputation and it
demonstrates that we are committed to appointing the very best talent prior to
the move to MediaCityUK in 2011."
