Target Scores with Drama Fare at MIPCOM

LONDON, October 30: Target
Entertainment Group sold more than 500 hours of drama programming at this
year’s MIPCOM, with series such as Taggart
receiving pickups from NRK in Norway, KRO in the Netherlands and VRT in
Belgium.

A U.S. DVD deal for the
long-running crime drama Taggart was
also secured with Acorn. Over in New Zealand, TVNZ snapped up Caught
in a Trap
, Bitter Sweet and Little White Lie.

Seasons four and five of Murphy’s Law went to ABC Australia,
while Planete Justice in France took on seasons one through three. All five seasons of the Tiger Aspect-produced project were picked
up by the Endemol-owned crime channel Misdaad
Net in the Netherlands.

Echo Beach and Moving Wallpaper received pickups from Super Channel in Canada and HBO
Latin America. The Amazing Mrs. Pritchard
went to Showtime and Showcase in Australia, as well as the new Italian
channel Lei, owned by Digicast.

Jane Dockery, the director of sales and
programming at Target Entertainment Group, said: “MIPCOM was a great success
across all the genres in our catalogue, but drama in particular really
performed well at this market. It’s testament to the strength of our drama
brands that we had interest and pickups from such as diverse number of
broadcasters.”
