BBC Dominates Children’s BAFTA Nods

LONDON, October 29:
Programming for CBBC and CBeebies scooped up a host of nominations for the EA
British Academy Children's Awards, which will be presented November 30, and
both services are up for channel of the year, facing off against Nickelodeon UK
and Nick Jr.

In the animation category,
meanwhile, CBeebies’ Charlie and Lola
Autumn Special
is up against three shows that air on CBBC: Eliot Kid, Shaun the Sheep and Skunk Fu!
CBBC programs also dominate the drama category, with nominations for The Revenge Files of Alistair Fury, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Summerhill and Young Dracula. All the entertainment category contenders are also
airing on CBBC: Basil’s Swap Shop, Hedz, Smart and Sorry, I’ve Got No Head.

In the factual category,
Nickelodeon UK’s Nick News: Nick’s Big
Green Challenge
takes on three shows that air on CBBC: Newsround on Knives, Serious
Andes
and The Smoke House.

For the preschool animation
shows, nominations went to Charlie and
Lola
on CBeebies, Little Princess
on Five and Peppa Pig and Roary the Racing Car, which air on both
Nick Jr. and Five. In the category of live-action for preschoolers, nods went
to In the Night Garden and Space Pirates on CBeebies, Go and Be a Grown Up on Cartoonito and The Milkshake Show on Five.

In the feature film
category, nominations went to Fox’s Horton
Hears a Who
, Disney’s Ratatouille
and WALL-E and Paramount’s Stardust.

The contenders for
independent production company are Chapman Entertainment, Darrall MacQueen, The
Foundation and Ragdoll Productions.

For the international
award, the contenders are Nickelodeon’s iCarly,
Nick Jr.’s LazyTown and Yo Gabba Gabba and Disney’s Phineas & Ferb.
