Fox, Mark Burnett Team Up for New Game Show

LOS ANGELES, October 16:
Mark Burnett Productions and Fox Television Studios are co-producing a new
reality game show, Rouletter, which features an innovative spin on the
traditional casino game, substituting letters for numbers.

The show features a patent-pending
design for its unique game play set piece that replaces traditional numbers on
a Roulette wheel with letters. Contestants then place bets while they battle
head-to-head to form words within a specific timeframe to avoid elimination.

Rouletter is created by
Mark Burnett and David Russo. The initial pilot episode will be produced in
South America by Fox TV Studios and executive producer Matthew Gaven. Burnett
and Russo are also executive producers on the project, alongside The
Collective’s Reza Izad and Al Hassas.

Fox Television Studios’
president, Emiliano Calemzuk, said, “In Rouletter, we have a game-show format
with so much universal appeal, it made sense to team with Mark Burnett, a giant
in the industry who has introduced the world to many new types and genres of
alternative programming.”

Fox Television Studios’
senior VP of programming development, Jill Schwartz, added, “The show combines
the best elements of Las Vegas-style gaming and word formation, within a fierce
competitive environment. We expect Rouletter to work in many different markets
and territories.”

Burnett, the president of
Mark Burnett Productions, commented, “I love big studio game shows and this
concept presents a great opportunity. Fox TV Studios has demonstrated its maverick
approach to international production, and I was eager to come on board for what
I believe is a breakthrough format in game shows. I look forward to working
with the entire team at FtvS as we work to launch this show in the U.S. and
abroad.”
