AETN Grows Digital Presence in Asia

NEW YORK, October 16: A
number of new VOD and mobile agreements are in place for AETN International across
Korea, Japan, the Philippines and Southeast Asia, including an expansion of its
deal with MSN into new Asian markets.

In Korea, AETN
International has signed an agreement with IPTV platform LG to launch a
History-branded VOD service, and has renewed an agreement with SK Broadband
(formerly Hanaro) for a VOD service. The History brand and programs are now
available on all three IPTV platforms in Korea, and each of the services is
available in Korean.

TU Media is set to bring
programs from History, also in Korean, to its S-DMB mobile TV service, marking
the first time History programs are available via a mobile service in Korea.

Digital Media Mart in
Japan will bring the first online History VOD service to the country. Presented
in Japanese, the programming includes episodes of Dogfights, Battle Stations and Lost Worlds.

History signed an
agreement to launch a full channel on the new SMART mobile TV service in the
Philippines, which will mark the first launch of a History mobile service using
DVB-H technology.

AETN has also extended its
global portal agreement with MSN to include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the
Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. MSN will include a page for three AETN
brands on its MSN video service, including History, The Biography Channel (BIO)
and A&E Network. MSN will also provide additional online media value in the
region. Outside of Southeast Asia, AETN short-form video content is available
on MSN in Australia, Canada, the U.K. and the U.S.

“Over the past 18 months,
AETN International has moved aggressively to build the presence of History,
Crime & Investigation Network and BIO in the Asia-Pacific region,” said
Fabienne Fourquet, the director of international digital media at AETN. “We
have launched linear SD and HD services across Asia for our brands, are pleased
to ramp up distribution of our programs and brands via digital media platforms.
At AETN, we strive to reach viewers wherever they may be with our acclaimed
programs, and these partnerships represent important steps towards achieving
that goal.”
