Broadcast Deals for Jim Henson Series

LOS ANGELES, September 26:
The Jim Henson Company has finalized broadcast deals for its newest animated
preschool property, Sid the Science Kid, broadening the reach of the series throughout North and South
America.

New agreements for the
series include Discovery Kids Latin America and a trio of Canadian public
broadcasters, TV Ontario, SCN-Saskatchewan
and British Columbia’s Knowledge. Sid the Science Kid recently debuted in the U.S. as part of the PBS KIDS preschool destination, the
hosted two-hour morning block and online. The Jim Henson Company’s Sam Ewing,
who was recently appointed head of international sales for new programming,
will officially debut the series at MIPCOM Junior.

Sid the Science Kid features a practical in-school science curriculum,
using music and humor to celebrate children’s natural curiosity about science
in everyday life. The energetic and inquisitive Sid starts each episode with a
new question, such as “Why are my shoes shrinking?,” and embarks on a
fun-filled day of finding answers with the help of family and friends. The 40
half-hour episodes are co-produced by The Jim Henson Company and KCET in Los Angeles
for PBS KIDS.

“We have already received
a tremendous response from broadcasters for Sid the Science Kid, which is a testament to the quality and
originality of the series,” said Peter Schube, the president and COO of The Jim
Henson Company. “The series has been extremely well-received in the U.S. on PBS
Kids, and we expect similar success as it rolls out internationally.”
