Fireworks Scores Deal for The Border

LONDON, August 26:
Fireworks International has sold seasons one and two of the prime-time crime drama
series The Border to FX in the
U.K.

The Border, which premiered
across Canada on the CBC earlier this year, follows the members of the elite
Immigration and Customs Security (ICS) Unit. ICS agents see everything from
international terrorists and drug smugglers to traffickers of illegal organs
and enriched uranium.

Executive produced by
White Pine Pictures’ Peter Raymont, The Border has also been licensed in France, Belgium,
Luxembourg and South Korea, with Beta Film picking up the rights to continental
Europe, excluding French-speaking territories. Broadcast agreements are also in
place for Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands.

Jason Thorp, the managing
director of Fox International Channels U.K., said: “We are delighted to have
secured The Border in the U.K.
It is a welcome addition to a host of great shows we have already secured for
spring ’09.”

Kathryn Rice, the senior
VP of international sales at Fireworks International, added: “We are thrilled
that The Border will be
premiering on FX in the U.K. and we are confident that the show’s sophisticated
story lines and high-energy execution and production values will prove to be a
ratings winner for the channel.”
