TELETOON Preps Live-Action Tween Comedy Series

LOS ANGELES/TORONTO, July
15: Canadian animation network TELETOON has given Blueprint Entertainment the
go-ahead for 26 half-hour episodes of the live-action tween comedy Go-Girl.

Go-Girl tells the story of 15-year-old Becky Smith being
elected as her town’s mayor after completing a class project. The series
follows Becky and her friends as they balance family, high school,
relationships and politics.

A strong online and web
component is being developed for the series.

Go-Girl is the first TELETOON original production to
feature a live action/animation hybrid with a mix of animated and visual
collage techniques. The series will begin production in late fall, filming in
Toronto and the greater Ontario region for a fall 2009 launch on the network.

John Morayniss and Frank
Saperstein of Blueprint Entertainment and creator Wilson Coneybeare (Timeblazers, Monster Warriors) will executive produce the series. Alyse
Rosenberg (Braceface, Ready
or Not)
will serve as the head
writer and showrunner. Blueprint’s Oasis International is set to distribute the
series worldwide.

Casting directors Lisa
Parasyn and Jon Comerford have started a countrywide casting search for young
talent to star in the show. Blueprint also has expanded the casting search
through a Facebook event page where young hopefuls can post their auditions
onto YouTube.

“We are excited as we
continue to grow our relationship with the fantastic team at TELETOON on this
ground-breaking project for the network,” Saperstein said. “We are fortunate to
have the combination of Blueprint’s experienced prime-time live-action
production team working with veteran showrunner Alyse Rosenberg. Alyse’s
history with projects such as Braceface and Ready or Not bring
the perfect perspective to the high concept, originally created and developed
by Wilson Coneybeare. As we begin the casting process, we are excited to
uncover the fresh faces and new talent that will bring the series to life.”

Michael Goldsmith, the
director of original content for TELETOON, added, “Go-Girl is an exciting step for our network as we
constantly look to explore new forms of animation and storytelling while also
developing great characters who are funny, empowering and charming.”
