Sony, Sky Launch Portable VOD Service

LONDON, July 14: Sony Computer
Entertainment and Sky have unveiled Go!View, a VOD service for PlayStation
Portable (PSP) in the U.K. and Ireland, featuring content from Disney-ABC-ESPN
Television, BBC Worldwide and NBC Universal, among others.

Go!View allows PSP users
to transfer content to their portable devices via a PC for on-demand viewing of
TV, movies and sports, in addition to their regular gaming experience.
Agreements have already been inked with Disney-ABC-ESPN Television, for past
seasons of hit U.S. shows such as Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly
Betty
and Desperate Housewives; BBC Worldwide, including top British series Doctor
Who
and Top Gear; NBC Universal International Television
Distribution; National Geographic; and Sky Sports, with FA Premiere League
football coverage.

Comedy, sports and
entertainment packs are available by monthly subscription, while selected
movies and TV series can be transferred using a rental service on Go!View.

“We are working with our
content providers to secure a quality range of programming and ensure that PSP
owners are getting the best possible service on-the-go and on demand,” said
Alison Turner, the general manager of Go!View Entertainment in the U.K.
