Nick Hails Top Ratings Spot

NEW YORK, July 2:
Nickelodeon is celebrating its 14th straight year as basic cable's top total
day network for kids and total viewers, driven in the second quarter by two new
hits, iCarly and The Mighty
B!

Nickelodeon says it is
home to cable TV’s top five shows for kids 2 to 11 and kids 6 to 11, as well as
four of the top five tween shows and commercial TV’s top four preschool series.

In the quarter, the basic
cable network reported a total day 46-percent share of kids 2 to 11 among the
big three kids’ channels. The entire Nickelodeon Kids and Family Group
portfolio, which includes Noggin, The N, Nicktoons Network and Nick at Nite,
reached an average of 24.2 million kids 2 to 11 each week in the period.

Nickelodeon says it was
also the only kids’ network in this quarter to up its tween and total viewer
audiences over the past year. In addition, in kids 2 to 11 it earned a 3.5
rating with an average of 1.2 million viewers, versus Disney Channel’s 2.4
rating and 824,000 viewers and Cartoon Network’s 1.6 rating and 559,000 average
viewers. Nick also claims the top spot in kids 6 to 11, averaging 3.1/649,000,
24-percent over Disney Channel and 82-percent ahead of Cartoon Network. In
tweens, Nick ranks 2.3/498,000, ahead of Disney by 16 percent and Cartoon
Network by 98 percent.

The channel averaged 2.2
million total viewers this quarter, a 7-percent increase from last year.
