Sofia’s Diary Gets Second-Season Order

LONDON, May 28:
Social-media network Bebo has commissioned a further 65 episodes of the
interactive online teen soap Sofia’s Diary, bringing its total number of episodes to 130.

The series will also be
distributed on AOL, following the company’s recent acquisition of Bebo.
Production on season two is under way, with new episodes set to debut June 16
through September.

Based on an international
format owned by Sony Pictures Television International, Sofia’s Diary is centered on a 17-year-old girl and her friends
in London. Each week, viewers can interact and vote to determine Sofia’s
decisions. There is a free service available across all U.K. mobile networks,
activated by text message, which connects to the series, as well as a column in
the teen magazine Mizz, along
with the show’s various online components.

Sarah Gavin, Bebo’s global
communications director for AOL People Networks, said: “The success of Sofia’s
Diary
has been hugely satisfying
to the entire team working on the fantastic series. We are delighted with its
performance over multiple platforms and pleased with the synergy it has built
with its community of followers both on and offline. We’re proud that Bebo is
seen as the place for outstanding original content online, and look forward to
producing further episodes for its many avid fans to look forward to.”
