AXN Beyond Expands Asian Footprint

SINGAPORE, May 22: On May
27, Sony’s AXN Beyond, a spin-off of the action and adventure English-language
entertainment channel AXN, will roll out in Singapore, its third market in
Asia.

AXN Beyond was first
launched in the Philippines in January this year, followed by Hong Kong in
April; more markets are in the pipeline from the third quarter onwards. Billed
as a network for “out-of-the-ordinary” content, AXN Beyond is targeted at viewers aged
15 to 25, and offers top-rated shows
from the U.S. across genres such as sci-fi, suspense, horror, mystery/fantasy,
the paranormal and supernatural. AXN Beyond will be the fourth 24/7 offering
from SPE Networks—Asia.

In the upcoming months,
the lineup for AXN Beyond will include the latest season of the drama Lost, as well as shows like Supernatural
and the fantasy/romance series Pushing Daisies.
Additionally, AXN Beyond will feature a new movie slot this June, with animation series also in
the pipeline.

Ricky
Ow, the general manager of SPE Networks—Asia, said: “AXN Beyond complements our existing bouquet of channels
nicely—AXN for PMEBs wanting a slice of action and adventure in their
lives, Animax for the youth and young-at-heart, Sony Entertainment Television
for the empowered female and now, AXN Beyond
for the
thrill-seeking individual. This latest offering brings us closer to providing a
complete entertainment TV package for the varying preferences of our viewers in
the region.”
