Southern Star Secures Indian Deal for Kids’ Programming

LONDON, May 9: Sun Kids
Channel India has acquired a slate of more than 200 hours of kids’ programming
from Southern Star International, including the preschool series Raggs.

The deal also includes
series like The Beeps, which was produced by Impossible Television for
Five in the U.K. and follows a community of eight characters who live together
in a forest on an island with their pets; Sea
Princesses
, which is based on the
original book series Princesas do
Mar
from Brazilian author Fabio
Yabu and focuses on the adventures of a group of young princesses who live
under the sea; and G2G: Got To Go, a look at pre-teen life through the eyes of a
12-year-old who writes the advice column for her school’s weblog. Rounding out
the slate is Tracey McBean, centered on a pint-sized girl inventor with a
large imagination, and Faireez,
exploring an enchanted, magical world known as Faireezia.
