Winners Announced for BAFTA Awards

LONDON, April 21: Winners
were unveiled for the British Academy Television Awards in London, with The
Street
(BBC One and Granada
Productions) taking home the win for best drama series and Gavin and Stacey (BBC Three) winning the Sky+ Audience Award for
program of the year.

In the performance
categories, Andrew Garfield of Boy A (Channel 4) won for best actor, while Cranford’s Eileen Atkins (BBC One) took home the award for
best actress. Harry Hill of Harry Hill’s TV Burp (ITV1) was acknowledged for his entertainment
performance, and the comedy nod went to James Corden of Gavin and Stacey.

In the drama genre, aside
from The Street scoring a win, The
Mark of Cain
(Channel 4) took home
the award for best single drama, while Britz (Channel 4) won for best drama serial and Holby
City
(BBC One) for best continuing
drama.

Heroes (BBC Two) was recognized as the best international
program. Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares (Channel 4) scored a win in the features category, while best
entertainment program was awarded to Harry Hill’s TV Burp. The winner for best comedy program was Fonejacker
(Channel 4), with Peep Show (Channel 4) scoring the win for best situational
comedy.

The award for best factual
series went to The Tower: A Tale of Two Cities (BBC One), while Andrew Marr’s History of Modern
Britain
(BBC Two) won in the
specialist-factual category and Lie of the Land (Channel 4) took home the trophy for best single
documentary.

Gavin and Stacey beat out The Apprentice, Andrew Marr’s History of Modern Britain, Britain’s Got Talent, Cranford and Strictly Come Dancing for
the Sky+ Audience Award for program of the year.
