NBCU Launches SCI FI, Universal in Romania

LONDON, April 17: NBC
Universal Global Networks today launched its SCI FI and Universal Channel
brands in Romania on the AKTA platform.

“We’re thrilled to be
establishing SCI FI and Universal Channel in a market as significant as
Romania,” said Roma Khanna, the president of NBC Universal Global Networks
& Digital Initiatives. “These strategic launches underscore the expansion
plans of NBC Universal Global Networks and the global
appeal and popularity of our brands.”

Universal Channel and SCI
FI join other NBC Universal Global Networks brands in Romania: Hallmark

a.m., seven days a week, SCI FI and Universal Channel can be seen on the
analogue and digital basic tiers on AKTA, formerly known as MAX TV, subtitled
in Romanian.

"The launch of
Universal Channel and SCI FI forms part of a comprehensive growth strategy for
Romania, which has long been the most successful CEE country for the Hallmark
Channel,” said Colin McLeod, the managing director for Central and Eastern
Europe at NBC Universal Global Networks. “The SCI FI and Universal channels
feature distinctive series and movies which will quickly establish them as firm
favorites with Romanian cable and satellite subscribers."
