Granada Picks Up Children’s Series

LONDON, February 27:
Granada International has acquired the worldwide distribution rights, excluding
U.K. DVD, to the new children’s live-action series Captain Mack, produced by Fireback Entertainment.

The series was
commissioned by CITV, and Granada will launch sales initiatives at MIPTV in
April.

The 52×11-minute series
combines live action with animation to target kids aged 3 to 6. The world of Captain
Mack
is full of bright colors,
larger-than-life characters and a sprinkling of CGI effects. Mack is a
superhero always on the lookout for danger, and Sunshine City—home of
Tracy Trickster, Grabby Crabby and Marty Meddler—is where he’s going to
find it.

“We are always looking for fresh and engaging new programs for young
viewers and Captain Mack certainly fits the bill—it is different and
quirky with huge charm,” said Emmanuelle Namiech, the director of acquisitions
and co-productions at Granada International. “We’re certain that it will be a
hit with international kids buyers down in Cannes. We’re also very excited to
be working with John Bullivant and his team at Fireback.”

John Bullivant, the joint managing director at Fireback Entertainment,
added, “We saw a clear gap in the market for a rocket-riding action hero for
children aged 3 to 6 and a chance to offer youngsters an exciting champion who
‘saves the day’ without the need for bad guys or violence. That’s what Captain
Mack
delivers. We are delighted to have Granada International as one of the
key distributors.”
