Shaftesbury Begins Production of Teen Comedy Series

TORONTO, February 13:
Shaftesbury Films has begun production on a new half-hour teen comedy series,
titled Overruled!, which is
scheduled to air later this year on Family Channel in Canada.

Overruled! follows the trials of Jared “Coop” Cooper, a
15-year-old whose cool, fun and articulate traits lead to him becoming a lawyer
in Banting High School’s Teen Court. Joining Coop in the school’s legal
proceedings are by-the-book lawyer Kaleigh Stewart, judge Tara Bohun and court
clerk Rusty.

The series is produced in
association with Family Channel, and is created by Jeff Biederman, Jeff F. King
and Jeffrey Alan Schechter. It is executive produced by Christina
Jennings and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury Films, Jeff Biederman and Jeffrey
Alan Schechter, and produced by Suzanne French for Shaftesbury Films.

"It's incredibly
exciting for us to be at work on this new series for Family Channel," said
French, who is the VP of children's and family at Shaftesbury. "The
creative team and our young cast bring a remarkable energy to the production
and early indicators point to strong international appeal."

“With Overruled!, Shaftesbury has once again assembled a
first-class cast and crew and delivered what is sure-to-be another
made-in-Canada audience smash,” said Kevin Wright, the senior VP of programming
at Astral Television Networks, which owns Family Channel.
