STAR Rolls Out New Chinese Movies Channel

HONG KONG, January 23: STAR has launched a new channel,
focused on Chinese movies from the ‘70s to ‘90s, with carriage scored in
Singapore with StarHub and in North America with the KyLinTV IPTV platform.

STAR Chinese Movies 2 will debut in Singapore on StarHub
Digital Cable on January 25 and on KyLinTV on February 1. It will tap into
STAR’s Chinese film library, home to more than 600 titles. Offerings will
include Enter the Dragon starring Bruce
Lee, Once Upon a Time in China starring
Jet Li, Police Story and
Project A
with Jackie Chan, Yes,
Madam
starring Michelle Yeoh, John Woo’s A
Better Tomorrow
and Bullet in the
Head
, Stephen Chow’s Royal Tramp and King of Beggar and the romantic drama An Autumn’s Tale with Chow Yun Fat and Cherie Chung.

Jason Siu, the general manager of STAR Taiwan, who oversees
STAR’s Chinese movie channel operations, said, “The launch of STAR Chinese
Movies 2 reflects the increasing demand for quality Chinese movies among
viewers. These films have a timeless cinematic appeal that audiences old and
new continue to find irresistible and we are delighted to be able to share them
with film lovers in Asia and beyond, starting with Singapore.”

The launch of STAR Chinese Movies 2 follows the success of
STAR Chinese Movies, the leading Chinese movie channel in Taiwan, Hong Kong,
Singapore and The Philippines. STAR Chinese Movies has output deals with
leading studios in Hong Kong, including Media Asia Films, Emperor Motion
Pictures, JCE Movies, Universe International, Filmko, Jing’s Production and
China Star.
