Breakthrough, SilverBirch Studios Ink Video Game Partnership

TORONTO, January 8: SilverBirch Studios has inked an
agreement with Breakthrough New Media to develop two games based on the
upcoming animated kids’ television series Jimmy Two Shoes, which will be broadcast on TELETOON Canada and
Jetix Europe.

As part of the agreement, SilverBirch Studios will develop
one mobile game that will be distributed through Swedish-based Global Fun and
one online Flash game that will be housed on the official website at
Teletoon.com. Both games will concurrently launch when the Jimmy Two Shoes series debuts in early 2009.

Jimmy Two Shoes
centers on Jimmy, an enthusiastic 14-year-old kid who, through a series of
missteps, falls into the weird world of Miseryville, where everything is
designed to inflict torment onto its inhabitants. Always irrepressible, Jimmy
stirs up the fun in his new bizarre home much to the chagrin of Miseryville’s
“Big Cheese”—Lucius Heinous the Seventh.

The Jimmy Two Shoes
interactive project—both mobile and online—has been funded through
the Telefilm Canada New Media Fund and the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund.

“I’m very excited about the opportunity to work on games
based on this animated property,” said Wojtek Kawczynski, the senior VP and
general manager of SilverBirch Studios. “Breakthrough is an accomplished
Canadian multiplatform game producer and to be able to work on a concept
developed by them is great way to start our relationship.”

“We are very confident that SilverBirch will deliver top
quality games on both platforms,” added Dorothy Vreeker, the creative
director/producer of Breakthrough New Media.

Based in Toronto, SilverBirch Studios is a developer
specializing in premium handheld and mobile games. Breakthrough New Media
(BNM), the interactive division of Breakthrough Films & Television, has
produced award-winning websites and games that complement Breakthrough’s
television properties. BNM’s most
recent releases include a GBA game and a mobile game for the animated series Atomic
Betty
, “Operation Victory,” a historical
turn-based online strategy game and
“Uh-Oh Flamingo!,” an online game based on the animated series Captain
Flamingo
.
