Globo Makes Gains Across Asia

SÃO PAULO, January 8: Globo TV International has reported an increase in its business across Asia, securing interest from broadcasters region-wide for productions like the telenovela Pages of Life and the mini-series Amazonia.

“Asia is a strategic market with great potential for our productions,” said Raphael Correa Netto, the director of international sales at the Brazilian distributor.

Globo has already made gains in China, Macau and India. The telenovela Shades of Sin, licensed to almost 40 markets, was sold to Tianjin TV Station for broadcast in Mandarin. Globo cracked the Indian market in a deal with Sahara One for more than 1,000 hours of drama content, including Pages of Life and America. And in Macau, a five-year volume deal was clinched with TDM. The productions are shown in Portuguese with subtitles in English. Globo also recently sold the children’s live action Pirlimpimpim to WPP in Vietnam.
