TG4 Receives Order for Second Season of Music Competition Series

BELFAST, December 6: Green Inc. Film and Television has been
commissioned to deliver a second extended season of the music-entertainment
series Deis Roc to Irish broadcaster
TG4.

Hosted by TG4’s Síle Ní Bhraonáin, Deis Roc is an eleven-week battle-of-the-bands style
competition, wherein amateur groups and solo artists go head-to-head for a
chance to win 10,000 euros cash. Contestants perform two songs—one in
English, the second in Gaelic—in front of a live studio audience, and are
judged by a panel of industry experts including Jim Lockharte of the Horslips,
Ronan Ó Snodaigh of Kíla and Karen Kirby from the BBC. The season includes 10
30-minute episodes, with a 50-minute finale. Irish production company Tobar
Productions co-produces the series.

Deis Roc is commissioned
by Prioinsias Ni Ghrainne, the commissioning editor of TG4, produced by Philip
Campbell, the director of Tobar Productions, and executive produced by Stephen
Stewart, the managing director of Green Inc.

“Our focus is always to entertain and we continue to do this
through developing interesting and exciting formats which continue to be
successful,” said Stewart. “The last series of Deis Roc attracted record audience calls for a TG4 series.
We’re delighted to continue producing great Gaelic content with TG4.”
