IBC Brings New Titles to MIPCOM

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK, October 4: Jon Helmrich, the founder
and president of International Broadcast Communications (IBC), is heading for
MIPCOM with a diverse slate of programs.

Helmrich, who established IBC in 2001, divides his business
between program sales and channel development expertise and consulting.

In the area of channel development, Helmrich has been collaborating
with Rainbow Media for the past year. “I worked with Rainbow Media’s VOOM HD to
secure the first international launch of the VOOM HD channel on Canal Digital
in Scandinavia,” says Helmrich. “This summer VOOM HD also launched in Hong Kong
and Singapore and we are now exploring opportunities in Europe and Latin
America that will hopefully lead to at least six to eight more launches by
early 2008.”

On the distribution front, among the titles IBC will be
offering buyers at MIPCOM is Ice Planet,
a new science-fiction series produced by the Toronto-based studio SpaceWorks
Entertainment. “IBC has concluded a deal to represent Ice Planet outside the U.S. and Canada,” explains Helmrich. “In
addition, I will be working with SpaceWorks to create a full sales and
marketing team to represent Ice Planet and other productions globally.” Ice Planet is a 22 one-hour series budgeted at $29 million for
the first season, which begins production in Toronto this month.

IBC is also taking its bestselling series about worldwide
superstars, Famous, and re-launching it
as Movie Star. Twenty-six new
episodes will be introduced at MIPCOM. Movie Star will make its international debut this month on
Hallmark’s new channel DivaTV in the U.K.

Also making its debut on DivaTV is the series Cinenews, an insiders guide to filmmaking and filmmakers,
which features interviews with the biggest stars in front of and behind the
camera in each episode. Both Famous
and Cinenews are produced by
Popular Arts Entertainment.
