HBO Renews Two Comedies for 2008

LOS
ANGELES, August 17: HBO has given a fifth-season renewal to Entourage and a second-season order to Flight
of the Conchords

for launch in 2008.

Both series
are currently airing back to back on Sunday nights and wrap up their current
seasons September 2. Announcing the renewals, Carolyn Strauss, the president of
HBO Entertainment, noted: “Entourage is a full-fledged cultural phenomenon, and Flight of
the Conchords
has
quickly become a show to watch. I’m delighted that we’ll be bringing new
seasons of these distinctive series to our subscribers.”

Created
by Doug Ellin, Entourage will have debuted 54 episodes at the end of its fourth season. The
show received seven Emmy nominations this year, including outstanding comedy
series. It picked up an Emmy last year for outstanding supporting actor in a
comedy series (Jeremy Piven).

Flight
of the Conchords

follows the New Zealand music-comedy duo of Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie
in New York City’s Lower East Side as they split their time between seeking
venues where they can perform and awkwardly courting women.
