Disney Channel Localizes HSM2 Rollout for Asia Pacific

HONG KONG, August 10: In an effort by Disney Channel to step
up its localization efforts for High School Musical 2, the sequel’s soundtrack released across the Asia
Pacific will include several songs re-recorded by Asian artists.

The High School Musical 2 soundtrack, releasing across the Asia Pacific beginning August 14,
features ten original songs from the upcoming sequel, plus versions by artists
from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and the Philippines, to be included in their
respective markets. In India, the whole soundtrack will be re-recorded by
Bollywood artists in Hindi, and will replace the English soundtrack in the
movie.

Music videos will also be
produced for all localized tracks and will air on Disney Channel.

“We believe it is really important that we talk to our
audience in the language in which they are most comfortable and for High
School Musical
, where music is such an
integral part of the movie, it makes perfect sense to extend that to the songs
as well,” said Simon George, the VP of regional marketing for Disney Channel
Asia Pacific.

In addition, High School Musical 2 will be available in eight local languages across the
region, premiering on Disney Channel starting September 9.
