FremantleMedia Enterprises Racks Up Deals In Asia

LONDON, July 16: FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has
secured a number of high-volume broadcast deals across Asia, including a
package totaling 142 hours with Malaysia’s Media Prima.

The Media Prima deal covers 142 hours of comedy, drama,
lifestyle and factual programming. This includes two new U.S. drama series from
Blueprint Entertainment—the teen-focused The Best Years and the dark comedic scripted series, Love
You To Death
, featuring Hairspray
director John Waters in his television
series debut. Media Prima also picked up the live-action edition of Mr Bean, as well as Martha and season two of the entertainment series American
Inventor
and The Janice Dickinson
Modeling Agency,
among others.

UBC in Thailand picked up a package of programming totaling
more than 120 hours, including comedies like the Emmy-nominated British sitcom The
IT Crowd
, and Crackerjack’s Comedy
Inc
. FME has also licensed a range of
British factual programming to UBC like Penguin Adventure with Nigel
Marven
, Silver River’s 638 Ways
to Kill Castro
and Death In
Santaland
, talkbackTHAMES’ Buildings
That Shaped Britain
and Atlantic
Productions’ Secrets of the Great Plague, Apollo 13: The Inside Story and Jack the Ripper: The First Serial Killer. The U.S. dramas The Best Years and Love You To Death were also included in the deal.

FME has also secured television distribution deals with two
broadcasters in the Philippines. As part of a 76-hour package, ABS-CBN has
purchased The Best Years and Love
You to Death,
along with Kudos Film and
Television’s Wide Sargasso Sea.
Comedies like The IT Crowd and
the subversive new cartoon sketch show Modern Toss were also sold to ABS-CBN. And Solar has acquired
nearly 50 hours of programming from FME, including the latest seasons of the
U.S. entertainment series Project Runway and America’s Got Talent.
