Lifetime Unveils New Programming, Reality Block

NEW YORK, July 12:
Lifetime Television made a slew of announcements today, including the
second-season renewal of its hit series Army Wives, the August premiere of an original movie about
the death of Princess Diana, the pickup of a British reality format and the
upcoming launch of a Friday-night reality TV block.

The network has already
ordered a new series for the prime-time reality block: Bunim-Murray
Productions’ eight-episode America's Psychic Challenge, in which amateur psychics compete against each
other in a variety of challenges. It is slated to launch October 12 at 10 p.m.,
following the second season premiere of the hit reality series Lisa
Williams: Life Among the Dead
,
starring medium clairvoyant Lisa Williams at 9:00 PM.

"The success of Lisa
Williams: Life Among the Dead

proves that our audience is keenly interested in this genre of programming,"
said Susanne Daniels, the president of entertainment at Lifetime Networks.
"My talented reality programming team worked hard to develop a compelling
companion to Lisa—and
that show is America's Psychic Challenge. We're also extremely happy to be working with the legendary Jon
Murray, who has a long tradition of producing hit reality series."

Also on the unscripted end
is How To Look Good Naked,
based on the British format from RDF Media that airs on Channel 4. The Lifetime
version will be hosted by Carson Kressley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) and teaches women of all shapes and sizes how to
go from self loathing to self loving without resorting to interventions like
extreme dieting or cosmetic surgery. The half-hour reality series will premiere
in January 2008 on Lifetime. "So many women today struggle with their self
image and I'm thrilled to now have a show on Lifetime that encourages them to
accept, embrace and even flaunt their bodies," said Daniels. "With
his many years in the fashion industry and his hilarious sense of humor, Carson
Kressley is truly the ideal host for this feel good show."

The show is produced by
RDF Media and Maverick TV for Lifetime Television.

On the scripted series
end, meanwhile, the cable network has given a second-season renewal to Army
Wives
, from the Mark Gordon
Company. The network’s highest-rated series ever, Army Wives is slated to return for its second season in
spring 2008. Eighteen episodes have been ordered. The show is currently
averaging 3.6 million viewers and a 3.0 prime-time household rating while
ranking first among all key women demographics, including 1.4 million female
18-49 viewers and 1.4 million female 25-54 viewers.

"Even before we
shattered records with the premiere on June 3, we saw the battalions of
critical acclaim and knew we had a hit," said Daniels. "Everyone up
and down the chain of command deserves a medal for making the show such a
success, from our amazing partners at ABC Studios and the production teams both
in L.A. and on the ground in South Carolina to my talented colleagues here at
Lifetime and, of course, those nearly four million viewers who tune in every
week.”

And in terms of original
movies, The Murder of Princess Diana will air in a special three-night premiere beginning Saturday, August
25 at 9 p.m., followed by encore presentations on August 26 at 6 p.m. and
August 27 at 9 p.m. The film will also air on Friday, August 31, at 9 p.m.,
marking the tenth anniversary of Diana's passing. It stars Jennifer Morrison (House) in a fictionalized account of the book by the
same name by Noel Botham, which theorized that the car crash that claimed the
lives of the Princess of Wales, her companion Dodi Fayed and their chauffeur
Henri Paul, was a conspiracy. Morrison portrays a journalist who witnesses the
tragic car crash and quickly becomes convinced it was not just an accident. It
was filmed on location in Luxembourg and Paris.

The movie is produced by
Working Title Television, the sister company to the award-winning production
company Working Title Films, whose credits include United 93.
