BBC Raises More Than £1 Million for Wildlife Fund

LONDON, July 9: The BBC’s Saving Planet Earth stunt, which on Friday included a live fundraiser on BBC One, has brought in more than £1 million for the BBC Wildlife Fund charitable organization.

More than 20 million viewers tuned in for the Saving Planet Earth documentaries broadcast over the past two weeks, highlighting endangered wildlife across the globe.

"Saving Planet Earth aimed to raise awareness of the extinction crisis facing the natural world and what we can all do to help prevent it,” said Neil Nightingale, the head of the BBC’s Natural History Unit. “I’m delighted that so many have watched these programs and the audience response has been so overwhelmingly positive."

There is still a week of Saving Planet Earth titles on BBC Two, presented by Michaela Strachan and focusing on the plight of endangered wildlife in the various U.K. regions.
