Icon Signs New Deals for Animation Catalogue

BARCELONA, June 27: Icon Animation
has signed a raft of international television, home video and publishing deals
for the kids’ healthy-eating series Vitaminix and a range of animated series from its distribution
library.

In Greece, 06TV has secured the
television and home video rights for several properties, including three Icon
Animation-produced shows. These include the 104×2-minute Vitaminix, the hit 52×12-minute animated sitcom Lola &
Virginia
, and the 33×26-minute Mimi
& Mr.Bobo
. 06TV has also acquired shows
from Icon Animation’s third-party animation library, including the new
52×13-minute series Rat Man, a
co-production between RAI and Stranemani in Italy; Antena 3’s 26×26-minute Cloud
Trotters
, the 25×6-minute The
Nimbos
and the new 70-minute feature film Christopher
Coolumbus
.

Icon Animation has also scored a
number of deals in Iberia. The Balearic free-TV channel IB3 has picked up Vitaminix as well as two titles produced by Millimages U.K.:
the 26×26-minute Skyland and the
52×13-minute Corneil & Bernie.
Telemadrid also picked up Skyland
and Corneil & Bernie. Icon Animation, in conjunction with Entertainment Rights,
has also sold the 52×15-minute series Postman Pat to free TV-channel RTP for broadcast on RTP 2 in Portugal. RTP also picked up the 26×13-minute The
Edebits
. In Portugal, Icon reached a
publishing agreement with Prime Books for Vitaminix.

MediaCorp’s Kids Central in Singapore has snapped up all
episodes of Vitaminix, and Brazil’s Spot
Films has signed a home video
deal for the 52×13-minute The Gnoufs.

Christophe Goldberger, the head of sales and marketing at
Icon Animation, said: “One of our key aims this year was to expand our sales
activities and so we are delighted to have secured this range of international
deals from our catalogue. We hope our sales success will attract further
producers to place their series with Icon Animation for distribution as we are
actively looking for content with a target 6-12 and live action for tweens.”
