Disney Channel Expands Reach in Vietnam

HO CHI MINH CITY/SINGAPORE, June 27: Disney Channel has
expanded its presence in Vietnam and is now available in 75 percent of all pay-TV
households, with carriage on the pay-TV systems Vietnam Cable Television
Service Technique Center (VCTV) and Saigon Tourist Cable Television Company
(SCTV).

Vietnam is one of 18 markets in the Asia Pacific that
broadcasts Disney Channel. The Disney Channel launched in Vietnam in May 2005.
In the two years since its launch, Disney Channel has increased its Vietnamese
subtitling from 10 percent to 70 percent of its programming. Disney Channel is
distributed by Q.Net in Vietnam.

VCTV provides cable service in Hanoi and DTH service
nationwide and is an affiliate of Vietnam Television (VTV), the country’s
terrestrial TV broadcaster. SCTV is a joint venture between travel chain Saigon
Tourist Holding Company and VTV, covering Ho Chi Minh City.

Laura E. Wendt, the VP and managing director of Walt Disney
Television International (Southeast Asia), commented: “Vietnam is a developing
TV market we’re proud to be a part of. The increasing interest for TV content
coupled with a high level of TV penetration—an estimated 80 percent
across the country—positions Vietnam as a TV market with vast potential.
We look forward to working with VCTV and SCTV to deliver quality family
entertainment Disney is famous for.”
