Alliance Atlantis Unveils Highlights for Specialty Channels

TORONTO, June 26: Alliance Atlantis Communications has
unveiled programming highlights from its fall schedule across its suite of 13
specialty television channels in Canada, including the premiere of Project
Runway Canada
on Slice this October.

HGTV will introduce a new “first timers” programming block
this fall that includes the premiere of the new Canadian series Marriage
Under Construction
on October 1, as well as
new seasons of Property Virgins
and Home To Stay. HGTV’s fall
schedule will also feature ten new original and international series with 21
returning viewer favorites, including Holmes On Homes, premiering on October 4, design inc. on October 2, Designer Guys on October 2, and Disaster DIY on October 4. The new original 26-part home makeover
series Colin Justin's Home Heist, hosted
by the popular British design duo Colin McAllister and Justin Ryan (How
Not To Decorate
), will premiere in prime
time on HGTV on October 2.

This fall, Showcase’s lineup includes the premiere of The
Life and Times of Vivienne Vyle
on
September 2. The series stars Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous). Returning series include the critically acclaimed Rescue
Me
with Denis Leary, premiering on August
28 (episodes of the series will also be streamed online at showcase.ca.), Weeds starring Mary-Louise Parker, premiering October 10; The
L Word
with Jennifer Beals on August 30;
and the comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia with Danny DeVito on November 4. Showcase will also
offer the Canadian premiere of the new drama Saving Grace, which will air Mondays at 10 p.m., beginning August
27. Saving Grace stars Holly
Hunter as Grace Hanadarko, a tormented, fast-living Oklahoma City police
detective who finally gets help in the form of an unconventional angel named
Earl.

Slice’s fall schedule will highlight ten new and returning
series. New series include The List,
hosted by Liza Fromer, The Biggest Loser Australia, Average Joe Hawaii and Trading Spouses. There will also be never-before-seen episodes of
returning series such as At The End of My Leash, Last 10 Pounds Bootcamp, Til Debt Do Us Part and Wedding SOS. Former supermodel and style icon Iman will also be the host of Project
Runway Canada,
the Canadian version of the
Emmy-nominated U.S. series. In Project Runway Canada, 12 designers compete in a number of challenges for
the chance to show collections at a premiere fashion event, with one designer
claiming the top prize of C$100,000 to begin a fashion line and a have feature
spread showcasing their winning collection in the pages of the country’s
foremost fashion magazine.

History Television will feature new documentary series,
including Trapped, debuting September 8,
which revisits some of the greatest disasters in history; Go Deep, launching on September 11, is an exploration into
our oceans' depths; and Extreme Rescue, debuting on October 20, offers insight into the high-risk rescues
that have made headlines all over the world. The critically acclaimed HBO
series Deadwood also returns to
the network for its third season on September 12. History Television will also
premiere a new 13-part series called Lost Worlds, which re-creates the past using modern-day CGI
technology.

For Food Network’s fall schedule, British chef Jamie Oliver
returns with the North American premiere of the series Jamie's Chef on October 21. Food Network will also launch three
new original series during the first week of October: The Main, hosted by Anthony Sedlak, winner of Food
Network's Superstar Chef Challenge
; Fink, a documentary series focusing on visionary culinary
arts teacher Paul Finkelstein; and Chef School, a unique view into one of Canada's most prestigious
culinary schools.

National Geographic Channel’s fall offerings include Dino
Autopsy
, an investigation of the most
intact dinosaur mummy in the world; Situation Critical, premiering September 15, a program that dissects major
incidents and tells the compelling tales of human survival; Incredible
Human Machine
, an exploration of the
miraculous everyday workings of the human body; My Brilliant Brain, a program that travels into the inner recesses of
the mind and Huge Moves, a series
documenting the planning and execution of giant moving projects. The six-part
documentary series Through Hell and High Water follows the journey of celebrity rowers James
Cracknell and Ben Fogle, who attempt to row 2,930 miles.

Fine Living kicks off its fall schedule with a new weekend
programming block, Smart Shopping Weekend, which
is designed to help viewers save time and money by providing insider tips from
experts and industry professionals. It includes series such as The
Shopping

Detective, What's
Your Time Worth?
and What You Get
For The Money: Vacations
.

Showcase Action will serve up the reality series Tapout, focusing on the world of mixed martial arts,
beginning August 20; the Gemini award-winning Stuntdawgs, which is a behind-the-scenes look at renegade stunt
performers; and Dane Cook’s Tourgasm, in which comedian Dane Cook invites three fellow comics to join him on
a sold-out stand-up tour across the U.S.

Highlights from Showcase Diva this fall includes episodes of
U.S. series such as Melrose Place, as
well as classic episodes of ER
and Nip/Tuck. The pop culture
network IFC will feature a lineup of exclusive series such as the rockumentary
series Cock'd Gunns in November,
and Undisputed, featuring comic
Andrew Dice Clay.

Meanwhile, Discovery Health will feature the North American
premiere of Spa of Embarrassing Illnesses on
September 6, in which nutritionist Amanda Hamilton treats patients who have
socially embarrassing medical conditions in her Spanish spa.

BBC Canada’s fall schedule is packed with lifestyle programs
such as the eco-friendly series It's Not Easy Being Green, premiering September 6, the antique-centered Dealing
with Dickinson,
and Trinny Susannah Undress, featuring the style gurus from What Not to
Wear.
BBC Kids will see the return of
programs such as My Hero in
September, The Raven in November
and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps. New programs include the interactive dance program
for kids Boogie Beebies and Lockie
Leonard
, a series that follows the life of
a teenager growing up in a new, remote town.
