VH1 Greenlights Seven New Series

NEW YORK, June 21: VH1 has greenlit seven new series for its
third night of original prime-time programming, ranging from the improv comedy Free
Radio
to the reality series The
Salt ‘N’ Pepa Show,
featuring the Grammy
Award-winning female rap duo.

VH1 will launch its third night of original programming
later this summer on Thursdays. At the end of this month, VH1 will celebrate 20
consecutive quarters of growth among total viewers, largely on the strength of
its original programming on Sunday and Monday nights. Such hits as I Love New York and Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School rank among the top 10 original series for basic
cable for 2007.

The seven new VH1 series are all slated for the fourth quarter
of this year or for the first quarter of 2008. They include 10 episodes of The
Salt ‘N’ Pepa Show,
which follows the
reunion of the two women that comprised the Grammy Award-winning rap duo Salt
‘N’ Pepa. The other series include the 10-episode reality competition America’s
Most Smartest Model,
which sees 14 models
try to prove that they are more than just another pretty face, in the hopes of
bagging a $100,000 prize. The series is executive-produced by Cris Abrego of 51
Pictures and Mark Cronin of Mindless Entertainment.

VH1 has also greenlit 8 episodes of Click!, a reality series that gives 10 amateur photographers
the chance to become the next great fashion photographer; and 8 episodes of Danny’s
Bonaduce Child Star
(tentative title),
which challenges Bonaduce to seek out one
great, aspiring, stage-hungry kid, identify them as a star, and train their
driven stage mom or dad to be a supportive and fit parent. Click! is executive-produced by Ken Mok for 10 X 10
Entertainment.

Another new show is the half-hour improvised comedy Free
Radio,
which provides a behind-the-scenes
look at a struggling Los Angeles radio station and its dysfunctional staff;
plus the seven-episode documentary series Lords of the Revolution, which profiles the nonconformist heroes—and
anti-heroes—of the 60s and 70s. Rounding out the new slate is five
episodes of Old Skool with Terry and Gita, a half-hour weekly series starring 77-year-old former
movie star Terry Moore and 72-year-old former supermodel Gita Hall as they
explore the hottest topics in pop culture.

"VH1's original shows often finished among the top 10
basic cable telecasts for the day this year,” said Tom Calderone, the executive
VP and general manager of VH1. “The time is right to build on our momentum and
expand our programming assets in a prime-time line-up that featured 90 percent
original content this quarter. This extensive list of new original projects
will also appeal to our viewers on any platform they wish to enjoy them… on
television, on our broadband channel VSPOT, VH1.com or VH1 Mobile."
