Dutch Broadcaster Tien Commissions Reality Format Trucker

LAREN, June 7: Tien, the
Dutch TV station owned by Talpa Media Group, has commissioned the reality
format Trucker, which is based
on Scania’s Young European Truck Driver competition.

Trucker is developed by Silverback, formerly Talpa
Scandinavia. Strix Holland will produce the series of eight programs to be
aired this fall.

Scania’s Young European
Truck Driver (YETD) competition is the world’s largest driving and road safety
skills competition. Local qualifying rounds will take place throughout Europe
during the spring. The big European Final will be held in Sweden in the fall.
In addition to the TV-format, Silverback has been involved in the design of the
test track.

In addition to the eight programs,
Tien will air both the Dutch and European Finals of the YETD.

“We are excited about the format Trucker and are looking forward to work together with
Scania and Silverback in making a fresh and exciting progam for Dutch
audiences,” says Remko van Westerloo, the director of programming at Tien.

“Scania wants to improve the image of
truck drivers and attract new people to the industry. With Trucker, we will show that this is a profession which
provides many opportunities and where professional skills are required,” says
Cecilia Edström, the senior VP of corporate relations at Scania.

“I’m thrilled to see the first
production of Trucker on air in
Holland. Joining an exciting TV-format with one of the biggest competitions of
its like in the world creates a unique possibility. The Dutch version will be
the first in a row of European versions of the format”, says Anna Carrfors
Bråkenhielm, the CEO of Silverback.
