NBC Universal Makes Two Key Appointments With Pope and Weinberg

BURBANK, June 5:
In another move to revamp NBC Universal’s TV
entertainment operations, Katherine Pope has been appointed president
of NBC Universal Television Studio. Pope replaces Angela
Bromstad, who, according to The New York Times, is expected to be assigned to another NBC
Universal position, and may head up the company’s international division in
London.
In addition, Teri Weinberg has been named NBC Entertainment's new
executive VP. The announcements were made by Ben Silverman and Marc
Graboff, the co-chairmen of NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television
Studio.

Silverman and Graboff were
appointed to their posts at the end of May and both report to Jeff Zucker, the
president and CEO of NBC Universal.

Pope,
who most recently has been the executive VP of NBC Entertainment, will head the
NBC Universal Television Studio, which is responsible for more than 15 prime-time
series, including the highest-rated scripted series this season, House; the Emmy-winning comedy The Office; the hit new series Heroes, and the cable shows Battlestar Galactica and Monk, among others.

“I've
always admired the work of Katherine Pope,” says Silverman. “She is an
unbelievable executive. This has always been her dream job, just as the job
that I'm now doing has been mine. I'm so excited to have her continue as part
of the team at NBC Universal.”

Graboff
adds, “I have been impressed with Katherine Pope's talent for many years and I
know she will succeed in this new position. We're looking forward to her
continuing to grow our very successful studio.”

Pope
was named the executive VP of NBC Entertainment in January 2006, where she was
responsible for all aspects of NBC's new series development, including the
series which will premiere in the fall, Life, Journeyman, Bionic Woman and Chuck. She also developed and oversees Heroes, and developed Friday Night Lights and 30 Rock.

Replacing
Pope as executive VP of NBC Entertainment is Teri Weinberg, who previously
served as the executive VP of scripted programming at Reveille, founded by Ben
Silverman.

“Teri
is the best creative executive I know,” says Silverman. “She has been an
unbelievable partner and I can't wait for her to bring her passion and taste to
the network.”

“Teri
is one of the brightest TV execs in town and has a proven talent for finding
and nurturing a number of breakout hits,” adds Graboff. “Her contributions will
make our excellent development team even stronger.”

Weinberg
will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of NBC Entertainment's scripted
development.

In
her previous post at Reveille, Weinberg was responsible for all scripted shows
in development as well as the company's current roster of scripted programming.

Weinberg
is co-executive producer of The Office. She also serves as executive producer of Ugly Betty, and is also the executive producer of The
Tudors, which premiered on
Showtime in April.
