Heavy.com Expands User-Generated Online Talent Show

NEW YORK, May 30: The online
male-skewing brand Heavy will expand its user-generated online talent
show, Circus of Awesome, into a full
original series that will be featured on its broadband channel.

Circus of Awesome was
originally created as a one-time promotion for the launch of the new Hot
Tamales Ice mint-flavored candy, and had initially debuted as a live Spring
Break event in Panama City this past March. The performances were recorded and
aired on Heavy.com as part of the competition and promotion—Circus
of Awesome
has been streamed more than 3.5
million times by more than 1 million people.

"There are a lot of people out there who do weird
things really well, and Circus of Awesome
has turned into the place for people to showcase their unique talents,"
said Jason Marks, Heavy's VP of programming. "Circus of Awesome marks the first time Heavy has taken a branded
entertainment campaign created for an advertiser and developed it into an
original series with a permanent home on Heavy. Our audience demanded more Yo Yo experts, human slinkys and (flag)
pole dancers, and we're giving them what they want."
