TORONTO, May 29: The Banff World Television Festival (BWTVF)
has announced that Carol Mendelsohn, the executive producer and showrunner of
the hit scripted drama series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, will receive this year’s Award of Excellence.

The 28th edition of BWTVF takes place at the
Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada, from June 10-13. The award
will be presented to Mendelsohn by Mary Powers, the chair of the Banff
Television Festival Foundation and the senior VP of corporate communication at
Bell Globemedia, at a luncheon on June 11. In addition, Mendelsohn will also be
delivering a presentation in one of BWTVF’s Master Class sessions on June 12,
where she will answer questions about her experiences in the broadcast industry
and her involvement with the development and production of CSI.

Mendelsohn has been the show runner and executive producer
on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation since
the pilot episode. Last fall, the show began its seventh season as the
number-one scripted drama series on television. Mendelsohn is also the
co-creator and executive producer of CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. She began her career writing for Stephen Cannell on the drama series
Stingray
and Wiseguy, and also served a five-year stint as executive
producer on Melrose Place. As a
producer, she has been nominated for multiple Emmys, WGA Awards, Golden Globes,
Producers Guild Awards and the prestigious Edgar Allen Poe Award. She is also a
three-time People’s Choice Award winner.

“Carol’s hugely successful career has earned her
international recognition and admiration,” says Jennifer Harkness, the
executive director of the BWTVF. “We are delighted to have the opportunity to
acknowledge this with the Award of Excellence and to provide delegates with
access to the thought processes of one of most powerful women in Hollywood.”
