CW Unveils Fall Schedule

NEW YORK, May 17: Eight new series have been picked up by
The CW for its 2007-2008 schedule, with renewals for established shows like America’s
Next Top Model
and One Tree Hill, and the cancellation of cult favorite Veronica
Mars
.

The network has announced pickups of three dramas, three
comedies and two unscripted shows.

Announcing the new schedule, entertainment president Dawn
Ostroff noted: "Our new shows have attitude and a sense of fun, and
they're going to define this network. With that in mind, The CW is adding six
new series to our schedule this fall. With established shows anchoring four
nights and providing a launch pad for new programs, we will also have stability
on our successful Thursday and Friday lineups. Shows that can be enjoyed by the
whole family will air on Mondays and Sundays in the 8:00-9:00 hour, with the
7:00-8:00 hour on Sunday providing an innovative showcase for both viewers and
advertisers."

Mondays will be comedy night with three returning shows: Everybody
Hates Chris
at 8 p.m., and Girlfriends
and The Game from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The new show for Monday
nights is Aliens in America,
about a Pakistani Muslim teen who comes to live with an American family as an
exchange student. It is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

On Tuesdays at 8 p.m., the hit reality series Beauty And
The Geek
, from executive producers Ashton
Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, will return, leading into the new drama Reaper from executive producer/director Kevin Smith. It is
the story of a slacker named Sam who learns that his parents accidentally sold
his soul to the devil before he was born, forcing him into a new life as the
devil's bounty hunter.

Wednesdays continue to be led by America’s Next Top Model, leading into Gossip Girl, from The O.C. producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. It is based on the
bestselling young-adult book series of the same name about the struggle for
social supremacy among teens from both sides of the tracks in a posh Manhattan
prep school.

Thursdays remain home to Smallville and Supernatural, while Fridays feature two hours of Friday
Night Smackdown
.

Sundays will kick off at 7 p.m. with two new reality shows: CW
Now
bills itself as the
ultimate source for everything hip, hot and happening in youth culture, with
the option for advertisers to incorporate their brands into the show. That
leads into Online Nation, with the best
user-generated content from the web. At 8 p.m., the network will broadcast the
new family drama Life Is Wild,
filmed entirely in South Africa with a cast of American, British and
South African actors. That leads into an encore presentation of America’s Next Top Model.

One Tree Hill is
returning midseason, as is Pussycat Dolls Present. Also ordered for midseason are two additional
reality shows: Farmer Wants a Wife
and Crowned: The Mother of All Pageants. The three reality shows will enable the network to schedule original
reality series in key time periods over the entire season.
