HDNet to Produce New Episodes of Improv Comedy Series

LOS ANGELES/DALLAS, May 16: HDNet will produce and finance
15 new high-definition episodes of the half-hour improv comedy series Sports
Action Team
for premiere this fall.

MGM will handle the exclusive worldwide television
distribution of the series. Produced by Chicago-based Tower Productions, the
semi-scripted series follows the antics of a hapless team of reporters who
cover the national sports beat. The cast is made up of alumni members of
Chicago-based improv comedy groups Improv Olympic and Second City. Each week,
in a bid to reach the pinnacle of sports broadcasting, the cast interacts with
real-world professional and amateur athletes, managers, sports enthusiasts and
celebrities, including Oakland Raiders wide receiver Randy Moss, Late Night host Conan O’Brien, Pro Football Hall of Fame coach
Mike Ditka, and boxing impresario Don King.

“HDNet is excited to be the high def home for Sports Action
Team
,” said Mark Cuban, the president and
co-founder of HDNet. “The behind-the-scenes part of sports interviews is pretty
crazy as it is. Mix in some comedic improv and world famous sports stars and
the result is a great show that HDNet viewers will love.”
