SevenOne Scores U.S. Deal on ProSieben Game Show

MUNICH, April 18: SevenOne
International has sold the U.S. format rights to ProSieben's game show format Beat
your Host! to paraMedia inc. to
produce through Warner Horizon Television, Warner Bros. Television’s division
for unscripted programming, in deal brokered by ICM.

Created and produced by
Raab TV and BRAINPOOL, Beat your Host! has been generating shares of as much as 30 percent in viewers 14 to
49.

Jens Richter, the MD of
SevenOne International, noted: “We are thrilled to witness the enthusiastic
response to this game show from the global key territories. Having sold the
format to the U.K. in March, we are looking forward to having it on air in the
U.S. as well. In paraMedia’s Jim Paratore, we have found the ideal production
partner.”

Paratore added: “The
success of Beat your Host!’ in
Germany proves that the format works. We’re excited to be in business with
SevenOne International and look forward to working with them to create another
success in the U.S.”

In other format news for
the German distributor at MIPTV, the improv-comedy Schillerstrasse (Schiller Street) has been licensed to Italia 1, which launched the
Sat.1 format last night.

Airing as Buona la
prima! on Tuesdays at 9 p.m., the
show is hosted by the Italian comedy stars Ale and Franz, who have been
appearing on Mediaset’s long-running Zelig comedy show. A RTI Spa Production, the improv
comedy is brought to the screen by Grundy Italia in cooperation with Bananas
and Cattleya.
