Power in Distribution Deal for Hit Daytime Dramas

LONDON, April
17: Power has picked up the worldwide distribution rights to two long-running
U.S. daytime dramas: Guiding Light
and As The World Turns.

Both serials, which were originally created by the
celebrated soap writer Irna Phillips, have together attracted more than 6
million viewers per day.

Guiding Light celebrates its
70th broadcast anniversary this year, and As The World Turns
has been on the air 51 years. Both shows are produced by TeleVest Daytime
Programs.

Announcing the deal, Justin Bodle, the founder and
CEO of Power, said: “This is the first time that global audiences will be able
to enjoy the trials and the tribulations of two of the biggest U.S. daytime
dramas in the history of TV. Daytime drama remains a truly dynamic genre, which
continues to command significant audiences on the international screen across
all dayparts with their feisty story lines and plots. Power is delighted to
have acquired the rights to two original masters of the genre, which together
represent a modern day slice of American TV at its best.”
