SPTI Promotes Lerner to SVP of Development and Current Programs

CULVER CITY, March 21: Sony
Pictures Television International (SPTI) has promoted Jeffrey Lerner to senior
VP of development and current programs, reporting to Steve Kent, SPTI’s senior
executive VP of international production.

Based at SPTI’s worldwide
headquarters in Culver City, California, Lerner will oversee the development
and production of projects in multiple genres including, sitcoms, soap operas,
talk shows, crime dramas and reality shows. His responsibilities extend from
the U.S. to other countries throughout the world, including the U.K., Russia,
Spain, Latin America and Poland. Most recently, he handled Born Ugly, the hit prime-time telenovela for CTC in Russia.

Lerner joined SPTI in 1998 as the
VP of development and current programs. He spent the first five years of his
television career on the NBC drama Santa Barbara, with the last two as producer when the series won
consecutive Emmy Awards for Best Daytime Drama series. He left Santa Barbara to develop series for Tele-Images, a French television
production company and later served stints as a talk show and music video
producer as well as story editor for MTV’s reality show The Real World.
